About ChUC – Chick Under Construction

The present is a gift…

Thanks for stopping by the Chick Under Construction blog!  I’m ChUC, aka, the original Chick Under Construction.  I’m glad you’re interested in seeing What’s on ChUC’s Mind… To read essays on my random or not so random thoughts click on I’m Just Saying… Check out my words of motivation and inspiration under ChUC’s Rants & Philosophy and my poetry under Spoken Word & Poetry.  If you’re short on time or if you’re only interested in short reads check out my Flash Fiction stories. All of them are less than 300 words! I don’t post a lot but I hope that what I do post is entertaining or beneficial to you in some way. Everyday I make conscious efforts to improve myself and I hope that you keep trying to construct a better you too!

Now a little bit about me… I am a Mechanical and Aerospace engineer but I have a creative soul. I received my engineering degree from the University of Alabama – Huntsville. I work full time as an engineer but I have been moonlighting as a freelance writer since 2003. I was Editor in Chief of an underground hip-hop magazine for 2 years and co-host of a local video show for 3 years. I write short stories and poetry, I’m a spoken word artist and I’m currently writing my first book, “My Soul Sings Off-Key”. I post about once or twice a week and I would love to read your comments.  Keep in touch and follow the blog (Follow ChUC’s Blog) or subscribe to the RSS feed!

I am confused, whether you are Chick Under Construction.
It is more of engineering term.
You appear to be a full blown Chick already.
    Nice writing.

Well, I am an engineer but I use the term Chick Under Construction to explain how I’m always working to improve myself and help others in the process. I strive to be the best Chick possible 🙂 Thanks for browsing my blog! Have you been enjoying the rally?

Very nice work, you’re growing by leaps and bounds!!

  11. December 10, 2010 at 12:24 PM

Thanks for dropping by my blog and allowing me the privilege of finding you blog too. I am very intrigued by the combination of Aerospace Engineering and Poet… very cool (intriguing because my 17 yr. old is considering an AE career option). I’m going to poke around here reading your work.
Keep writing and thanks for your encouraging words to me!

Hey Lesley-Anne! Poetry is a great form of expression for me. I simply started by reformatting song lyrics I wrote a while ago. I have to balance my nerdiness with a little creativity.

Yay for your son! 🙂 Aerospace Eng is a good choice because he can gain exposure to the electrical and mechanical eng desciplines. If he considers a minor in computer science or math his career propsects will be even better.

And thanks for checking out the site. It’s new so I’m still getting the hang of it but I really enjoy all things inspirational and motivational.

We live in a world where our creativity is somtimes under-encouraged. Kudos to you for stepping out and making a commitment to nurturing that important part of yourself.

    • January 3, 2011 at 1:55 PM

Thanks for the encouragement! I can’t sing and that was the only creative or artsy talent valued in my environment growing up 🙂 Finding your own way is very freeing. Happy new year to you!

    Hi there Chick Under Construction,
I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog about your time as an engineer. Over at ConstructionChic.com I’m exploring a few of the same ideas. I’d love it if you came over to have a look and gave some feedback?
